PARISH NEWS - 13 June 2021

As we see the increased roll out of vaccines across our province and watch the slow reopening of so many areas of our life, we are looking ahead eagerly to being able to worship in person again. The reopening plan for all churches is decided by the Bishop and like so much in our lives over these past 18 months may need to change at any time. Currently we are hoping that we will be able to gather again for in-person worship from early in September. We cannot say yet whether there will still be limits on gatherings and more information will become available closer to the time. For now we look forward to September ‘like the nightwatch for the morning’.

Our next GREAT PHONE AUCTION will be held on July 10th 3pm-5pm! More information coming soon!

This will take place on Friday, July 9th with calls to order any items to take place between 6 and 8 pm. We need people who can produce any of the following …..muffins, pickles, soups, cookies, squares, main dishes such as macaroni cheese, meatballs, desserts, bread, and any other brilliant ideas you may have! Please email or phone the office to let us know how you can help. We did very well with the one we had at Christmas and are hoping we can manage a repeat. (Yes, we already have cabbage rolls!) 905-627-1424

In the coming weeks we are hopeful that some restrictions on gathering will be lifted. We would like to use that opportunity to undertake some cleaning and painting and maintenance tasks around the building. If you are able and willing to be contacted to take part in small working groups when permitted, please contact the Parish Office if you can help. Please note that masks will be worn and distancing and limited numbers observed when this occurs.

Your fundraising committee has been busy. Please set aside the evening of July 9 (6-8pm) for the second St. James food auction and July 10th 3-5pm for the second phone auction. We have a wonderful assortment of items selected and this promises to be another exciting event. Jill R. is in charge of the food auction so if you have donations please contact her or the office 905-627-1424. If you are interested in being a phone volunteer contact Sue P. through the office. If you are available to deliver auction items on Monday the 12th of July after the sale in the Hamilton area only please contact Lynn D. through the office 905-627-1424

We had an abundance of donations so will be having a third telephone auction the 2nd of October Contact the office

if you have any donations for the 3rd Phone Auction and we will arrange a drop off time

You can still join Mike or Tom every Wednesday evening at 8.30pm on Facebook to pray the office of Compline (Night Prayer).

Thanks to everyone who went out of their way to donate reusable grocery bags for Ellen Osler House. We were able to take about 50 bags over and they were deeply grateful.

There is a growing need among food banks throughout Hamilton. We are hoping to support the food bank here in Dundas with specific needs for babies and hygiene products. Can you donate any of the following items? Shampoo, hand soap, shower gel, laundry detergent, toothpaste, toothbrushes (new in package), baby food, baby formula, diapers, feminine hygiene products, mouthwash, dental floss, dishwashing liquid?

A Box is outside the parking lot entrance to the church for drop off of items at any time. THANK YOU!

Coffee hour is a time each week to connect with one another, to chat, offer support, share stories and be together as God’s church in friendship. We meet at 10am on Thursday morning.

All are welcome to join us via Zoom:
