The Building Committee is planning a church cleaning day on Saturday, August 22nd at 9:00 am. We plan to work on the kitchen, entryways, and do some general cleaning.
If you are available and interested in joining us, email Terese Herron at tershaw1@gmail.com.
This week and possibly into next week, you will see technicians from Kridan Security installing a security system for St. James. The security system includes eight exterior cameras at each door, three interior cameras at key locations, 3 interior motion sensors and a monitored alarm system. We are fortunate to have received a Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant from the Province of Ontario to cover the cost of the system.
Thank you to members of the Building Committee for their work in obtaining the grant, selecting the contractor and arranging installation of the system.
Notice of Funeral for Canon Wendy Roy
A service to celebrate the life and ministry of Canon Wendy Roy will be held on Monday, August 24 at 2pm at Christ's Church, Flamborough, with visitation happening beforehand at 1pm. A reception will follow in the parish hall. May she rest in peace and rise in glory!
Tuesday Evening Prayer Group
The prayer group is pausing for the summer and will consider
when and how it will resume in September.

WEDNESDAY – COMPLINE – 9:15p.m. Compline is a short service of night prayer. The heart of Compline is the recitation of several psalms. There is a short reading from scripture, intercession, and time for reflection. It is a beautiful way to close out an active day. Compline is offered by St. James’ through Facebook to bring the community together. If you cannot join live, the service is available afterwards on St. James’ Facebook channel.
St James Church - 100th Anniversary of the Church Building
Are you having any luck searching for those elusive photographs or slides? Keep on looking!!
Our thanks this week goes to John Naismith, Kendra Gregson and Anne Washington for their contributions to our quest for photographs and slides. Isabella is hard at work scanning and creating an inventory of these collections for the archives at St. James. If you are able to contribute any photographs for this project, they will be scanned and returned to you. We are still interested in finding photographs from 1926 through to 1978.
Do you have Church School attendance certificates or medals? Confirmation cards? Infant Roll lists? Presentation Bibles? Cookbooks? Or any other memorabilia that could be used for an exhibit on the anniversary weekend? If so, please speak to Janet Cannon-Davison.
The priest in last week's photograph was identified as Bishop John Bothwell when he was the Rector of St. James. The young man has not been identified. The event wasn’t identified either. Let us know if you have a thought about what this occasion may have been.
This week’s photograph is of the exterior of St. James in the 1940’s. Note the location of the front door and the lack of the bell tower. Do you have memories of the church during this time? Let us know.
Janet Cannon-Davison, Isabella Guthrie-McNaughton, Anne Washington, Kendra Gregson, Barry Shimmons and Frank Rinaldo
