This week and possibly into next week, you will see technicians from Kridan Security installing a security system for St. James. The security system includes eight exterior cameras at each door, three interior cameras at key locations, 3 interior motion sensors and a monitored alarm system. We are fortunate to have received a Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant from the Province of Ontario to cover the cost of the system.
Thank you to members of the Building Committee for their work in obtaining the grant, selecting the contractor and arranging installation of the system.

Garden Project Update – as of August 11, 2026
The next phase of the Garden Project is about to begin. Edging and further cleanup of the gardens will continue over the next few weeks. Also, in the next couple of weeks a new 6 foot high fence will be built along the side of the church next to the Co-op playground. This will replace the fence that was damaged during the removal of a tree along our property line. A sprinkler system is also being selected and will be installed prior to the further development of the gardens. We are eagerly waiting for the garden/landscaping designs from the landscape architect.
WEDNESDAY – COMPLINE – 9:15p.m. Compline is a short service of night prayer. The heart of Compline is the recitation of several psalms. There is a short reading from scripture, intercession, and time for reflection. It is a beautiful way to close out an active day. Compline is offered by St. James’ through Facebook to bring the community together. If you cannot join live, the service is available afterwards on St. James’ Facebook channel.
St. James Church – 100th Anniversary of the Church Building
Our quest for photographs and memorabilia continues! Please let Janet Cannon-Davison, Isabella Guthrie-McNaughton, Anne Washington or Kendra Gregson know if you have any photographs that could be loaned to the church for our anniversary event.
We are going to endeavor to post a new photograph in each new e-blast. Let us know if you can identify the people or event that we showcase each week.
Also, do you have any early memories of St. James that you would like to share? Christmas pageants? Holly Fairs? Church schools? Picnics?
Mark your calendars for our Anniversary Dinner on Friday November 20th. And watch for further details in the weeks to come!
The picture this week depicts a presentation to an unidentified boy by a priest. Can you identify the people, or the occasion? This event was important enough to merit a professional picture (taken by S. Whittaker), but there is no information about it in our archives.
