SERVICES AND GATHERINGS THIS WEEK
SUNDAY, July 23, 2023 – 10:00 a.m. Seventh Sunday after Pentecost If you are unable to attend, the service is live streamed. For links to the service and the order of service please visit St. James at: stjamesdundas.ca or the St. James Facebook page.
WEDNESDAY – COMPLINE – 8.30 p.m. Compline is a short service of night prayer. The heart of Compline is the recitation of several psalms. There is a short reading from scripture, intercession, and time for reflection. It is a beautiful way to close out an active day. Compline is offered by St. James’ through Facebook to bring the community together. If you cannot join live, the service is available afterwards on St. James’ Facebook channel.

Message from the St. James’ Holiday House Tour Committee
It is that time of year already, when we are actively seeking houses to feature in this year’s Holiday House Tour. If you or someone you know may be interested in having their home on the tour, please contact
Jan S. via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com
Jan will be happy to reach out to the homeowner to discuss further.
Are you interested in joining the Holiday House Tour Committee? It takes an energetic committee as well as an army of volunteers to pull off the House Tour. We have seasoned committee members who are eager to orient new members to the workings of the House Tour. We have fun, meet lots of people from the church and community and raise considerable funds for the church.
If you are interested in joining the committee, contact Gillian Hendry via the church as well.

Dundas Room Roof Replacement The flat roof over the Dundas Room is old, worn and in need of immediate replacement. The cost is approximately $32,000. The roof is 3200 square feet. 32,000 / 3200 = $10 per square foot. For as little as $10.00 (or as much as you are able) YOU have the opportunity to help ensure
St. James continues to be a safe and vibrant place for ministry and hospitality. So far, approximately $4500 has been generously donated to ‘raise the roof’.
Generosity begets generosity! Donate today!

Beginning the week of July 10, 2023, two heat pumps were installed at St. James'. The first replaces the roof top air conditioner that cools the rector’s and administration offices. The second is in the church parlour to provide a cooler and more enjoyable place for meetings and events during the hot summer months. It is necessary to replace the roof top air conditioner as its life span is ending. It leaks causing stains in the ceiling tiles and the cooling is inconsistent and unreliable. The unit is large, heavy, and not environmentally friendly given its age. It is only a matter of time before it stops working altogether. The heat pump system will be up and running in early August after the electrical is complete. The installation of heat pumps is the best choice for St. James because they are energy efficient and will reduce the carbon footprint. Heat pumps will result in cost savings in the use of energy, potentially increase rental revenues and encourage use of the parlour twelve months of the year. St. James’ has a strong history of advocacy for climate justice and the environment. We will again lead the way in the Diocese of Niagara with the installation of heat pumps for our church building. Thank you to members of the Building Committee for their work on this project. Appreciation is extended to the Anglican Foundation for their generous grant towards the cost of the installation of the heat pumps.

Coming This Fall to St. James!
Revive, a small group discipleship program, is coming in October.
Revive will take you on an experiential journey of self-reflection, prayer, engaging conversation and spiritual formation that equips participants to become confident spiritual leaders.
Three modules of six sessions each make up Revive with an opening and closing retreat to bookend your experience. Module one - Communicating with God - delves into prayer. Module two - Engaging in Scripture - focuses on scripture meditation. Module three - Called for Ministry - digs deeper into discerning your spiritual gifts.
In order to participate in Revive all that is required is a desire for deeper intimacy with God and a desire to grow spiritually. Still not sure if Revive is for you? Speak with Rev. Canon Leslie Gerlofs.
