The Creation Stories of Science, the Church, and the Future of the Planet

Last Session this Sunday - Feb 15th

A three-part conversation series with parishioner, David Brown, that seeks to explore how science and the church each tell stories of creation—not as rivals, but as partners in wonder.  Together, we’ll look back at our origins in order to imagine faithful, hopeful ways of living into the future. Get a beverage and meet in the parlour following worship. Snacks provided.

Please see the attached reading material for each of the three sessions

Messy Church Volunteers Needed!

Please speak with Leslie if you can help with set up, take down, kitchen prep, wash up, or oversight of one of the children’s ministry stations.  The only requirement is a willingness to have fun and fellowship in the process!  The commitment is once per month.

Peace by Chocolate Product Recall

There has been a product recall by Peace by Chocolate, this is a voluntary and precautionary recall by the company in response to pistachios and pistachio-containing products that have been linked to salmonella outbreaks. The only product we have sold that potentially could be affected is the box of 15 chocolates, the classic assorted box. If you purchased and still have this box of chocolates you can return them to the church office or bring on a Sunday and we will provide a refund. None of the chocolates in this box contain pistachios; this is purely precautionary due to potential of cross contamination.

If you have questions or concerns please speak to Terese

A Message from Allison and Gerald

regarding their Music Internship with St. James

Dear St. James Dundas,

We are so honoured to join you for a Lent and Easter Worship Residency! Throughout the season, we’ll be leading Thursday rehearsals and music for Sunday services.

Our passion is blended worship. Inspired by scripture and working closely with Rev. Leslie, we’ll bring together beloved hymns, newer worship songs, and music from various traditions to create a beautiful, spirit-filled, and inclusive worship experience for this holy season. As lifelong songwriters, we’re also excited to share some of our original creations with you.

Most importantly, we want YOU to be part of this Worship Residency!

We're making space for singers, musicians, and songwriters to share their gifts. You can join the choir, play your instrument with us each Sunday, or simply join us one week for a special song.

Please reach out to us with any questions. We’ll see you soon!

Blessings,

Allison and Gerald

Infinitely More - Ephesians 3:20

Exploring Life and Faith together

Being With is for anyone who’s curious about faith — or wondering if the Christian faith has something meaningful to offer.

It’s for those who perhaps feel on the edge of church — uncertain, disconnected, hurt, or simply searching for something deeper. It’s also for those who’ve never explored faith before but feel open to discovering more together with others.

It’s about sharing stories about our lives and hearing the stories of others, whether they are about the small things that mean a lot to us or they can be the most challenging or life-changing moments of our lives.  There’s space for every person’s story.  The only thing you are asked to do is be prepared to listen to others stories and maybe share your own.

Exploring topics like, Meaning, Jesus, Church, Suffering, Prayer and the Cross. There is no judgement, no wrong answers and no proscribed path. It's authentic.

Each person is celebrated.

What if our real human problem is isolation?

Our world believes our problem is limitation – not enough resources, information, wisdom.  But if we think the problem is isolation what we need is all around us: it’s all about relationships.  Being With creates opportunities to make significant relationships.Through those relationships, we realise the truth we already know and discover truth through the experience of others.

What happens...

The group has up to 12 participants and two to three leaders. The time is made up of 4 sections. There is a specific way of listening carefully that allows space for sharing.

Welcome: In the first week the group is asked what has brought them to the course and in the weeks after that the question is - what is the heart of your week? We ask everyone to respond to this. It can be telling the group anything about the week - big or small.

Wonderings: which are related to the talk or story which is next. The wonderings are not questions but just offering a space for people to share experiences about different things like freedom or feeling trapped by something.

Story: The story is about 8 minutes on a different topic each week, covering different aspects of the Christian faith from perhaps a perspective you've not heard before.

Reflection: A discussion usually related to the wonderings or the talk. The question to start the discussion is "what is in your heart or your head?"

There are ten sessions in total – 5 during Lent and 5 during Eastertide.

A commitment to all ten weeks is required. We meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm in the Parlour beginning Feb 24th.Registration is open to the first 10 people.  Please email stjamesdundas@outlook.com or call the office 905-627-1424.

Questions can be directed to Canon Leslie, Tom, or Dana.

WEDNESDAY – COMPLINE – 9:15 p.m.

Compline is a short service of night prayer. The heart of Compline is the recitation of several psalms. There is a short reading from scripture, intercession, and time for reflection. It is a beautiful way to close out an active day. Compline is offered by St. James’ through Facebook to bring the community together. If you cannot join live, the service is available afterwards on St. James’ Facebook channel.

15th Annual Winter Coat and Boot Drive
