PARISH NEWS - 23 May 2021

SUNDAY WORSHIP

During our Sunday morning service on Pentecost we had a power outage and lost internet connection at the church. This means our live stream of worship was interrupted. However ,we were able to get back online after about 10minutes using Mike’s phone. You can catch the sermon and rest of the worship on our Facebook page if you missed it.

RETURN OF THE RECTOR

A huge thanks to all those who covered duties in Mike’s absence. Mike returns to work this week following his medical leave. Please give Mike time to catch up this week before contacting him. Thanks for your understanding.

MAKING IT HAPPEN!

A few weeks ago, we launched our ‘Making It Happen’ campaign to address the challenges of repair, maintenance and improvements with the building over the coming year. Those not on the email blast should have received a mailing. The letter from the corporation and the leaflet are available from the front page of our website or by clicking on the links below:

We are deeply grateful to everyone who gives to this campaign and understand that not everyone is able to do so.

A NOTE ABOUT GIVING Thank you to everyone who continues to give financially to Saint James through these long months and uncertain times. It is important to remember, when giving online, that in the ‘note’ section of an e-transfer or credit card payment to put your name and PURPOSE of your donation (Making It Happen, ticket, givings, auction etc.) so that the money is correctly allocated and those needing a reply (e.g. ticket) receive it. Please also note that giving via credit card, while available on the giving page of our website, is subject to a fee of 10%-15%, so the church doesn’t receive your whole donation; e-transfer is always preferred.

WALKING TOUR

Provincial regulations regarding the extended lockdown oblige us to change plans for the historic walks. The time and place of the church walk will remain the same and go ahead as planned: June 26th - 10 am. gathering at the parking lot at St. James Church, Dundas.

However, the walk featuring the historic homes will now be moved to: July 17th - 10am. gathering at the Drive In Park gates.

Call the office 905-627-1424 if you have any questions. We now have 10 spots available for the church walk. The historic homes is a sell out.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK

O God, who on this day didst teach the hearts of thy faithful people by sending to them the light of thy Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Savior, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

From the Book of Common Prayer
