SERVICES AND GATHERINGS THIS WEEK
SUNDAY - Until we hear differently, the Sunday service will continue to be on-line at 10.00 a.m. To find the link to the February 20th Sunday service and the order of service, go to the links provided on Facebook and our website - stjamesdundas.ca
TUESDAY – BIBLE STUDY - Please join Peter Wall for a Tuesday morning service of Morning Prayer and Bible Study at 10:00. A link can be obtained by phoning the office 905-627-1424
WEDNESDAY – COMPLINE - Compline is a short service of night prayer. The heart of Compline is the recitation of several psalms. There is a short reading from scripture, intercession, and time for reflection. It is a beautiful way to close out an active day. Compline is offered by St. James’ through Facebook as a way to bring the community together. If you cannot join live, the service is available afterwards on St. James’ Facebook channel.
THURSDAY - Our coffee hour occurs on Zoom at 10am. Join us to chat and enjoy one another’s company for an hour. Bring your own coffee! THIS PAST WEEK WE HAD OUR LARGEST GROUP TO DATE (I THINK) …and the conversation reflected the new faces in attendance and input from virtually all participants.
Zoom coordinates available from the office 905-627-1424

LENTEN BOOK STUDY – ADVANCE NOTICE
Fr. Peter is inviting folks to gather with him, at his regular Tuesday morning 10:00 time slot, during Lent (beginning Tuesday, March 8) to study both of the bishop's Lenten Books - Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World by climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe and A Spirituality of Fundraising by Henri Nouwen.
If you are interested in participating (one hour, Tuesday mornings, March 8 - April 12), please advise the office 905-627-1424 or Fr. Peter directly so that books can be acquired by participants. Peter is attempting to source the books locally; please see next week for more news. We might also be able to share copies of books if costs are an impediment.
QUESTIONNAIRE
A big THANK YOU to all of the 68 parishioners who have submitted their questionnaires. The results are being tabulated and analyzed by the Parochial Committee.
AND, SPEAKING OF THANK-YOUs ….
To all of you who persevered by walking through the snow to get to the “mail door” to deposit your information forms and your Parish Questionnaires.
And to “Auntie Jill” and her eight master chefs who helped to raise more than $500 from the Friday Night Food Fair. Everyone was a winner!
CLOSED CAPTIONING
Now this might help some of us with hearing issues….many thanks to Frank Rinaldo and the “techie team” who have been so faithful, helpful and considerate in their work on Sunday mornings.
Did you know our Sunday morning broadcast on YouTube can be viewed with Closed Captioning? If you are not already seeing the captions on your Device you may have to turn it on. Please note you may not see them during the hymns.
Turning on the CC (Closed Captioning) will depend on how you are watching the YouTube broadcast.
On a Smart Phone or Tablet if you are watching through the YouTube app. If you do not see the captions while someone is speaking touch the screen somewhere on the video. You will see the symbol on the top right of your screen. Simply touch the symbol to turn it on or off.
If you are watching the video on a browser like Chrome or Safari, simply move your mouse over the video and the menu bar will appear at the bottom right of the video. It will probably look like one of the following:
Chrome:
Safari:
The closed caption symbol on both is underlined in red if it is turned on, when off the red underline will disappear. Simply click on the symbol with your mouse.
Other browsers may use slightly different icons but they should be in the same position.
If you are watching YouTube on the App on your Smart TV there is a similar menu available by pressing the Enter button on your remote and then maneuvering to the CC symbol.

A life mystery! What did our parents do when they were bored … with no internet!
I asked my 18 brothers and sisters and they don’t know either.
ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT EVEN LENT YET …..
